Analysis suggests the industry underestimates iPhone
According to research by Morgan Stanley, the iPhone could surprise the mobile industry by selling 8 million units in 2007.
Based on a survey suggesting that a more potential buyers of high-end phones were considering an iPhone than the combined total of all other phones, the company upped their estimate from 6m to 8m phones sold.
Analyst Kathryn Huberty wrote, "The survey results suggest iPhone demand could increase even more if Apple successfully expands awareness of the product, broadens the iPhone product portfolio, extends to other carriers, or offers service contract or product discounts. In fact, while the high-end device market is clearly growing, iPhone appears well positioned to disrupt potential market shares."
Morgan Stanley added that they thought that any hype surrounding the iPhone is not overblown.
So move over Blackberry.
