Apple iPhone a game changer?
According to MocoNews at the CTIA conference, a recent panel reaction to Jupiter Research’s Julie Ask's question on whether the iPhone would be a 'game changer' yielded the following responses:
* Mark Bole, CEO, ShoZu: No.
* Jason Krikorian, Co-founder/EVP, Business Development, SlingMedia: It depends on how open Apple is.
* Ian McCarthy, VP, Product Marketing, Orb Networks: No.
* Craig Thole, Director, Value Added Services, Boost Mobile: No.
* Jeremy Welt, VP, New Media, Warner Brother Records: I don’t know.
Also mentioned was that Sling is not working on an iPhone version of its Sling Player because they weren't sure that Apple would allow it.
The response isn't that surprising given that the panel was made up primarily of those from generic mobile media services. They're probably more concerned about one another, and getting their services onto a variety of handsets, than being overly concerned about Apple's target 1% of the mobile market, even if iTunes ensures they won't be a part of iPhone's software.
