eBay sees iPhone scams - are we surprised?
The Unofficial Apple Weblog reports that eBay users are being scammed because they're so desperate to get hold of an iPhone they'll pay up to a thousand dollars to get hold of... nothing.
The auctions have disappeared for now, but you can be pretty sure that there'll be more along to take their place.
Analysts have already calculated eBay's iPhone-related merchandise exceeds $18,000, but at least those products exist, even if they're not entirely legal.
Three auctions for iPhones from the same single seller... shame on you, rgonzales23455; no wonder you've got no feedback. "Please note: I have 6 of these phones available for immediate shipping.. I accept Paypal only for this auction.. Free shipping via USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation.. Will ship immediately after payment clears Monday - Friday." Uh-huh, sure you will. These auctions close soon, folks, get your bids in now -- NOT.
I'm not sure if the bidders are stupid or desperate, or really haven't heard that the iPhone's not out yet. Sympathy is in short supply.
