Meizu M8: a decent iPhone clone?
There's certainly plenty of buzz around about the official launch of the Meizu M8, an 'affordable iPhone clone'.
The arguments and conspiracies will rumble on about who really copied who, but according to Mobile Magazine, Meizu made some 'minor' changes to the M8's design after seeing the iPhone unveiled in January. MM have published a trio of images showing the progressive design of the M8, from (ironically) a Linksys iPhone look-a-like, to a rather Apple-like version.
Gizmodo has produced a great size comparison chart. The Meizu M8 is just a little smaller.
It runs WinCE 6.0, has a 3.3inch 720x480 pixel display, Bluetooth, 3-megapixel camera, TV-out, line in/out, and video recording functionality. Many commenting on this 'clone' are suggesting that, whilst the hardware and icons look similar, the M8's user interface is unlikely to compare.
It's certainly a much cheaper alternative to the iPhone, starting at just $310 for the 4GB model with camera, or $400 for the 8GB version, but of course... it isn't an iPhone.
