iPhone books start appearing on Amazon
Take a peek at Amazon and take a look at the first wave of iPhone-related books available to pre-order.
None are yet available, and hopefully none are written either, as it would be a little unethical to author a book about a phone that no member of the public has handled yet.
Here's a pick of what's coming:
Starting on the more serious end of the scale (by the look of the cover) is the iPhone Quick Reference Guide, part of the Apple Training Series. At just under $20, it's published by Peachpit Press, has 160 pages, and should be available by August 2007.
If you're hiking around the world with your iPhone, perhaps the Rough Guide to Macs and iPhone 1 would be more your style. At under $10, with 256 pages, the book is due out on 2nd July. That's not much time to finish it off after the iPhone is released - perhaps the book will be more about Macs than the iPhone.
Moving on, the grandly titled "How to Do Everything with Your iPhone" offers you iPhone omniscience for $25 in 275 pages. Jason Chen and Adam Pash will be taking their time getting to know the iPhone, as the book doesn't come out until December 2007 - maybe just in time for the rest of the world to have their iPhone experience.
The ever-expanding Dummies series is keen not to miss out on the iPhone craze, either, and "iPhone for Dummies" will cost around $15, has 256 pages, and will cover "Getting started with your iPhone, setting up iTunes and your iPhone, getting organized with your iPhone, browsing the Internet with your iPhone, sending and receiving E-mail with your iPhone, buying music and videos from the iTunes store, taking great pictures with your iPhone, organizing and managing your photos, syncing up with your desktop, protecting your information, troubleshooting, and more."
Also on offer is "iPhone VISUAL Quick Tips", which will "provide visual learners with useful and unexpected techniques essential to getting the most from their Apple iPhone. This easy to use, compact guide provides tips, secrets, and tricks to help readers save time and become more efficient with this latest portable device from Apple." $13 for 208 pages.
David Pogue is a very clever man, because he's writing "iPhone: The Missing Manual". You know, I'm sure the iPhone will come with Apple's own manual, but it's good of David to have a back up plan. $16 for 256 pages. Incredibly, the book is due for release ten days before the iPhone.
What's amazing is that these authors and publishers are very confident that they'll be writing 'x' pages on all the amazing yet as yet untried features of the iPhone.
I'm sure they won't be the only ones.
