Shiny's Nokia N95 review: the ultimate smartphone?
One of the high-end phones most likely to challenge the iPhone for functions is the Nokia N95, and now it's hit UK shores, Ash and Susie have done a video review of it.
Video below, with comments after the fold.
To summarise, the plus points are the five megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and proper flash, plus video at 30fps, and GPS.
However, the phone isn't quite perfect. The GPS-related services aren't great yet, and it's not easy to synchronise the address book with getting directions (something that would seem a logical function). The overall build quality is also called into question.
As Ash says, the N95 isn't quite the "daddy of all gadget phones". It's more the "step-daddy of all gadget phones". In other words, the phone's almost there, but it's not as incredible as we might have hoped.
In conclusion, Ash feels that we've reached a point where we're pretty happy with the gadgets and functions we've got on our mobile phones, and now it's more about the interface itself. That's one of the most exciting things about the iPhone.
