The Apple iPhone's release date WON'T slip
I don't know. Apple make one announcement about OS X Leopard being delayed because they need to dedicate more resources to the iPhone, and suddenly they're not going to ship the iPhone on time.
According to Stephen Wellman from Information Week, Apple is really struggling, because it dared to announce that it has switched some resources from the OS X team to the iPhone team.
And apparently, even though the June 11th release date was never confirmed by Apple, Wellman now blames them for moving the shipping date towards the end of June.
Huh?
He's even teaming up with the well-known baiter, John C Dvorak, and using the 40-minute battery life rumour to try to bolster his argument. How does that work, particularly given that the Information Week article Wellman cites scorns the claim:
The validity of this information is flimsy at best. I, for one, can't believe that Apple wouldn't have its UI ducks mostly in a row a mere 2 months before launch. The battery issue is slightly more believable, though who knows if the production battery was actually supplied to the tester.
He then goes on to say that there will be many "cut-rate, cheaper clones within weeks of its release". Quite possibly, but how does that relate to the iPhone being delayed?
Sorry, Stephen, your arguments are either weak, based on flimsy analysis, or not even related to your original point.
Apple has admitted that resources have had to be reallocated in order to bring the iPhone to the US on time. They'll deliver.
