Belkin's iPhone arnband: do you want $500 worth of phone strapped to your arm?
One of the many accessories currently being readied for iPhone launch day is Belkin's armband.
It works on the same principle as the armbands available for iPods. It features an elastic material secured with Velcro, where the iPhone sits and is protected with a clear layer, presumably one that doesn't impede the intricate touchscreen response systen.
The only thing that worries me, though, is the thought of running around with a $500 smartphone strapped to your arm. Not only does it shout to everyone "hey, I've got an iPhone" but that clear screen can't offer a huge amount of protection if you accidentally bash your arm into something.
I don't recall seeing many people wearing iPod armbands, and even those who do tend to have iPod nanos. The iPhone is huge.
It won't stop these accessories coming out, though, as everyone rushes for a piece of iPhone-related gold.
