BoxWave pre-launch wave of iPhone accessories
BoxWave, who already make accessories for a number of phones and other gadgets, including the iPod, is just one company preempting the release of the iPhone with a wave of gadgets designed for Apple's smartphone.
"Bringing you tomorrow's products today" is a great line, but I wonder how many people will buy them before the iPhone is even in their hands?
Capitalising on users' fears that the iPhone's large touchscreen could be likely to get damaged, they're releasing a custom version of their ClearTouch Anti-Glare and ClearTouch Crystal Screen Protector products.
Their Anti-Glare product protects the screen as well as providing anti-glare properties (unsurprisingly). Each package includes one ClearTouch Applicator card and one micro-fibre cleaning cloth.
On the other hand, the ClearTouch Crystal provides "glass-like clarity", retaining the "full colour vibrancy of the Apple iPhone screen".
What isn't clear (ahem) is whether these products will inhibit the multi-touch gesturing system at all. Apple has obviously been working very hard on the screen, and though these products now carry the iPhone name, they look no different to a regular PDA protector.
In that case (oh dear, it's getting worse), the FlexiSkin might be a better idea. It's a case constructed from anti-static material, providing protection from both dust and bumps and knocks. It comes in a choice of colours: aluminium grey, coral pink, frosted clear, future blue, jet black, and smoke grey.
Alternatively, the Designio Leather Case is hand crafted from premium grade leather, custom fitted for the iPhone. It comes in jet black, leaf green, scarlet red, soft pink, tangerine orange, or winter white colour, and features a padded front cover and accessible interior.
Not enough casing choices yet? How about the Designio Leather Sleeve? Similar to the case, it's less bulky, and comes in seven colours: navy blue, leaf green, tangerine orange, soft pink, scarlet red, winter white, or jet black.
Additionally, if you're likely to replace the Apple earbuds that come with the iPhone, you could choose BoxWave's miniBuds, featuring a neodymium drivers to provide five times more power than aluminium, cobalt, or ceramic drivers.
These products are all revamped versions of existing lines, but of course no self-respecting accessory maker would want to miss out on a piece of the iPhone buzz.
