Can't get an iPhone but want to splash out? Try a $1600 Porsche P’9521 phone
The Porsche Design Group has announced that it has a serious contender for most expensive (non-gold plated) mobile phone, as it introduces the P'9521.
It's not a limited edition phone — though its $1600 price tag may keep it that way — and is decked out in aluminium and scratch-resistant mineral glass. It also includes a fingerprint reader, probably to check whether all those grubby marks on its touch screen are really yours.
The touch screen is mounted on a swivel base, so can be tilted and angled, and is based on OLED technology. It also features a 3.2 megapixel camera and an MP3 player, though more details about connectivity aren't clear. With a price tag like this, it had better connect to everything, and then some.
TG Daily has captured some photos of the device. It might cost almost three times as much as the iPhone, but it's nothing like as elegant.
It won't compete with the iPhone at the same time, either, as it's coming to the UK and Dubai first (exactly when isn't clear) and moving to the States in early 2008.
