iPhone fuels demand for .mobi domains
A recent press release suggests that the iPhone's imminent launch is increasing demand for the .mobi top-level domain extension, offering sites specifically designed for viewing on mobile devices.
It suggests that the iPhone's Wi-Fi and built-in web browsing capabilities will fuel demand for more web sites hosted on the dot mobi extension, but I'm not convinced.
The iPhone boasts full Internet browsing capabilities, so it's just as easy to view regular web pages (albeit without Flash).
Having said that, some developers are already making iPhone-friendly web pages, though I'm not convinced they'll use the .mobi domain to promote them.
