Latest Transatlantic iPhone survey pushes lust factor even higher
Wind back a month or two and you couldn't move for iPhone surveys, but they've been a bit scarce of late.
Fear not, for M:Metrics have released the results of a Transatlantic survey they conducted back in April. Bear in mind that this was before any official advertising from Apple or AT&T began in the US.
The measurement firm found that 56 percent of British and 64 percent of American mobile phone users were aware of the iPhone. Of those in the US who were aware of the iPhone, 14 percent said that they'd be highly interested in buying one.
“This data confirms that the iPhone has sparked the imaginations of consumers and is not merely a topic of conversation among insiders and technology enthusiasts,” observed Mark Donovan, senior vice president and senior analyst, M:Metrics. “19 million Americans reported strong interest in purchasing an iPhone – an impressive figure, when you consider that the installed base of most high-end devices rarely approaches one million and respondents were informed of the price point as well as of the AT&T exclusive.”
A whopping 30 percent of UK mobile phone users who'd heard of the iPhone said they'd be interested in buying it. Bear in mind, however, that there are no firm plans or pricing available in the UK yet, and so this couldn't be built in to the survey.
