MonkeyByte.com launch iPhone web applications
MonkeyByte.com has announced two new iPhone applications. They have teamed up with the San Leandro Times and the Castro Valley Forum newspapers to offer news updates and the latest local columns streamed to the iPhone.
If you think that iPhone users could simply visit the web sites using Safari on the iPhone, you'd be right.
"But, what is the fun in that?" asks Yon Hardisty, a MonkeyByte.com partner.
"We see lots of opportunity with the iPhone and want to expand our application offering for it by developing new titles as well as working with other developers to publish their applications. The fact that any application created for the iPhone can double as a web-based offering is a huge incentive for our team to go to town with new offerings for both mediums," he continued.
Nicholas Murphy, another partner, said that the company was most excited about taking their games to the iPhone. "I think the iPhone games will offer a much needed solution to those long lines at the Post Office," he quipped.
It's not altogether clear how their Galactica Anno Dominari gMatcher utility and the arcade game Galactic Patrol:Invader will make it on to the iPhone, though, given that Flash and Java are both out. Hopefully it's a Web 2.0 application, as nothing else is going to make it onto version 1 of the iPhone.
