Vodafone back in front as likely European network for iPhone
Vodafone's shares climbed today based on hopes that it will become the exclusive European network for the iPhone.
Analysts believe that Apple will make an announcement in July, with Vodafone now edging ahead of Deutsche Telekom (who own the UK's T-Mobile).
Credit Suisse believe that whoever secures the iPhone will sell over six million handsets within the first three years.
“Apple is keen to protect the value of the iPod by ensuring iPhones are not sold with a subsidy,” it told clients. “Vodafone would appear the front-runner, able to offer a presence in most European markets.”
Last month, T-Mobile were favourites, though there could still be some stormy times ahead as Apple strikes a European network deal.
