AT&T's network struggling under half-a-million iPhones
Rafe Needleman isn't happy and blames half-a-million iPhone users for crippling AT&T's network:
Curse you, iPhone users! I don't have an iPhone. I have a Blackjack. I don't love it, but it was cheap, and it worked reliably...until today. Data access on the AT&T network is sporadic right now. Reports are that the influx of iPhone users on the AT&T wireless data network is clogging up the aerials or something.
Yeah, insightful huh?
It's hardly the fault of iPhone users that AT&T's flaky network is struggling. According to some reports, AT&T's EDGE network went down completely yesterday - and that's not good news for iPhone users either.
Only BlackBerry users seemed to get away with keeping full service, while other phone users on both the EDGE and 3G networks had restricted or non-existent service for part of the day.
Not great, but not surprising. Chuck that many new users (OK so some were transferring) onto a network in the space of 48 hours and it's little wonder it stuttered.
