iPhoney: desktop web development tool simulates iPhone web browsing
Marketcircle has developed the free, open source iPhoney application which will allow software developers to easily test whether their web pages and applications work well on the iPhone.
It's Mac only at present, and allows the virtual iPhone to be rotated horizontally and vertically, and web pages zoomed in and out. It can also disable Flash and Java for that authentic iPhone browsing experience.
The developers are keen to point out that this isn't an iPhone simulator. Note the last question in the FAQ: "Why can't i make calls on this thing?" and the answer: "Buy a real iPhone!"
Obviously.
A useful tool, though, for anyone anticipating a million or more iPhone users browsing sites on their phone. Now, all you need to do is test it on a dial-up connection for that authentic "slowness".
