FlickIM adds new features to iPhone instant messaging client

FlickIM, whose iPhone instant messaging client launched last month, has announced a number of improvements in response to user demand.

FlickIM now has nearly 20,000 active users, and the company has launched a competition to find the best user-generated skins for the application.

Top picks will receive anything from iPhone Bluetooth headsets to Apple gift cards, and all well-received submissions will be offered for anyone to use.

New features include SMS and email notifications, allowing users to be alerted when they have a new message even if they're not actively using the application.

Don't be surprised to see further advances to FlickIM in the near future, as the community's "democratic development" continues.
