Two weeks of international roaming on iPhone: three grand, please
While the figures may not be wholly accurate, BoingBoing was tipped off by a reader who set up international roaming on his iPhone prior to a two-week trip to the UK, only to end up being stung for $3000.
He was only able to sign up to a "per-use" roaming plan, but figured the $.005 per kilobyte charge wouldn't be too bad.
"Billing phone reps offered me a $400 "courtesy credit" on the $3000 charge if I would agree to sign up for a $300 per year international data plan with a max of 20MB per month."
However, after contacting BoingBoing, AT&T seemed to have been shamed into submission.
Dave says, "AT&T just called and agreed to waive all charges due to the 'miscommunication.' I think they have a customer for life now."
