AT&T offers iPhone-friendly parental controls
AT&T has introduced a service to allow parents to control the amount of time and money their kids spend on their cell phone.
Compatible with any GSM or 3G handset on the AT&T network, and including the iPhone, it costs $4.99 per month, and allows the limiting of minutes, times of day and week the phone can be used, and blocking calls and text messages to and from certain numbers.
However, thanks to the closed Safari browser, Web restrictions can't be implemented on the iPhone. Additionally, Wi-Fi access can't be controlled.
All in all, then, it seems like an expensive service for iPhone users that doesn't really do a huge amount. Perhaps parental education, which is financially free, is a better option.
