iPhone not ready for enterprise, yet more business apps appear
The latest research firm to claim the iPhone is not yet fit for enterprise use is the Burton Group, who cite the lack of encryption, robust central management capabilities, and the ability to integrate with localised infrastructure, as reasons why the iPhone is an unlikely choice for most businesses.
"The iPhone is unquestionably cool, but the Mac has always been cool," said Jamie Lewis, CEO and research chair of the Burton Group. "It's clear that the lines between work and life and the devices you use in the different roles that you have will continue to blur."
Despite this, more iPhone applications targeted at business customers continue to emerge, including WebEx's iPhone-compatible version of its PCNow remote-access service.
Safari vulnerabilities may quell some businesses' enthusiasm for the iPhone, but then Microsoft is hardly immune from security problems.
