The warning's out. How to re-lock your iPhone
With so much talk about unlocking the iPhone and freeing it from AT&T, it's a little weird to be introducing a hack which will re-lock the iPhone. However, after Apple's recent warning, there's the danger that the iPhone could be rendered unusable by the forthcoming software update.
Now, the "iPhone Dev Team" has issued a statement claiming that a hack to re-lock the iPhone will be coming within the week. In the meantime, they say, "we advise you not to update your free iPhone with the upcoming firmware. Wait for the next version to be fixed to work properly with your carrier and not break your phone."
The developer is quick to point out, however, that "It is believed the... procedure will relock your iPhone and prevent it from being made permanently unusable by the upcoming firmware update. There is no gaurantee [sic], however, and I take no responsibility for your iPhone if the above procedures do not work for you and your iPhone gets hosed."
