OtterBox intros Defender series of cases for iPhone

Back in July we reported that Otterbox cases for iPhone were forthcoming, and now the company has announced that its Defender series of "semi-rugged" cases is available for the iPhone.

Made with a high-impact polycarbonate shell, it snaps together to provide complete protection for the iPhone. It features a scratch-resistant polycarbonate membrane which covers the screen yet doesn't hamper use. Finished off with a silicone skin which adds grip and absorbs bumps.

The cases also have Donaldson Acoustic Vents to protect the front speaker, bottom speaker and microphone openings, allowing clear sound transmission but protecting them from dust and moisture.

They also have holster-style swivel belt clip.

OtterBox plans to release a fully rugged case for the iPhone later this year.
