SDK could see Java, Flash come to iPhone
According to a Sun Microsystems official, Java and Flash could come to the iPhone in February, when Apple is expected to release the SDK (Software Developers Kit).
Java ME, the open source version of Java, both developed by Sun, could then appear on the iPhone. The official also said that other plugins and software could be added to the iPhone, including a Flash player for the Safari browser.
Of course, there's no guarantee that Apple will make the SDK widely available, nor sanction every piece of software. They may still deem that Java, and more likely Flash, are too much of a drain on the hardware to officially support.
That probably won't stop hackers getting these additional features onto the iPhone, though, even if it causes battery life to drop off.
