16GB iPhone coming to UK today, 1.30pm?
According to "multiple sources" who have spoken to Engadget, a 16GB iPhone could well be on its way to the UK — today at 1.30pm.
It wouldn't be the first time that Apple sprung a surprise like this. Though many have been expecting a larger capacity iPhone (and hoping for a 3G version, too), they were left disappointed when nothing was announced at the Macworld conference this year.
Of course, these kind of whisperings often end up in a no-show, but we'll be keeping an eye on the Apple, O2, and Carphone Warehouse sites this afternoon to see whether the rumour becomes a reality.
Stuffing a 16GB chip in the iPhone would, at least to the layman, seem like a fairly trivial operation. After all, the iPod touch already boasts 16GB.
Sources suggest that a 16GB iPhone would cost around £329. A similar launch could also happen in the US, and presumably in France and Germany.
We'll keep you posted.
