"Truck proof" iPhone survives despite high speed crushing
Presuming the reports can be believed, an iPhone has survived quite an ordeal, living to tell the tale.
A Kansas man, who forgot to pick his iPhone up from the boot of his car when leaving a petrol station, later found it strewn on a freeway.
“As I sped past the object, I knew it was my phone — still alive and working! I slammed on the brakes and pulled over, waiting for the passing cars and trucks to go by so I could run across two lanes of 75 mile-per-hour traffic to retrieve my poor phone,” he recalls.
“As the last pair of headlights approached, the semi got over to the far outside lane because he saw me standing on the side of the road. I knew this was trouble. As I watched helplessly from the shoulder, the semi ploughed my phone at full speed, throwing it to the ditch on the other side of the highway.”
Remarkably, apart from some scratches and a few dead spots on the screen, the iPhone not only fired up, but worked fully.
He's certainly one lucky, but clumsy, owner. Apparently his phone has been dropped down a flight of concrete steps, slid across a parking lot, dropped onto concrete, and partially submerged in water.
One day, most likely, that plucky little iPhone will have used up all of its lives.
