iPhone may still come to China via China Mobile
Despite a breakdown in talks between Apple and China Mobile in January, the former CEO of China Mobile believes that there's still a possibility of the iPhone coming to China via the company.
Wang Jianzhou told an annual parliament advisory meeting, "As long as our customers want this kind of product, we will keep all options open. We have not yet officially begun talks with Apple over the iPhone problem."
Though he wasn't specific about what problems these might be, we've already speculated that it comes down to revenue sharing and initial cost of the iPhone, which at its current Western price is equivalent to twice the average monthly salary in China. Ouch!
That hasn't stopped the market for imported iPhones, though, with China Mobile estimating that 400,000 iPhones are in use in China.
