8GB iPhone coming to India in September?

India may officially get the 8GB iPhone in September, sold exclusively through Vodafone, if reports in a national financial paper are accurate.

Vodafone, who has so far missed out on the iPhone elsewhere, is believed to be bringing the handset to the Indian market, initially rolling out the eight gigabyte version, with the 16GB following some time next year.

By September, we're fully expecting a 3G iPhone to have been released, and it's not clear whether India would jump straight to that model or stick with the current 2.5G EDGE version.

Last year, a report suggested that the iPhone would not do well in India if Apple did not add more functionality to SMS text messaging.
