O2 follows suit, drops 8GB iPhone price to £169 until 1st June
Carphone Warehouse may have announced it first, but O2 has followed suit, cutting the price of the 8GB iPhone to £169 from tomorrow.
One additional piece of info not immediately obvious from the CW release is that the deal is only available until 1st June.
This could simply be a way of enticing iPhoneless customers through the doors -- time-limited offers are an age-old marketing trick -- or it could signal the herald of a 3G iPhone.
We're done with over-speculating on the 3G iPhone, except to say that a June release date feels the most likely, for several reasons.
There's also the possibility that the 8GB iPhone will be phased out just as the 4GB model was last September, possibly to make way for a 32GB iPhone when the 64GB iPod Touch emerges?
Or some combination of those events.
In any case, take your pick: O2 or Carphone Warehouse -- the deal's the same.
