Russia to get the iPhone before April's out?
In May last year, speculators had set an Autumn 2007 launch for the iPhone in Russia, but that was before the first European launches, and no other countries have yet seen Apple's wonder phone.
The latest reports suggest that Apple could bring an iPhone to the Russian market very quickly, possibly the middle of next week and before the end of April.
That's based on "reports originating from Russia", plus an iTunes Store due to launch on 21st April.
Eugeny Chichvarkin, head of the Euroset Group, was positive about the iPhone, having last year suggested that it would flop in Russia.
"It is great if [the rumours are] true. Thus, Apple has made another step to iPhone legal sales in Russia and prices for Apple goods might go down to the US or European ones," he said.
One of the challenges facing Apple will be Russia's online music scene, which includes business models the Western world would consider illegal (think AllOfMP3.com). Still, Apple are used to coming up against local laws very different to those in the US.
