Twinkle: iPhone Twitter client with Locate Me function
The iPhone isn't bereft of applications to let you access Twitter -- heck you can even use the original version via the Safari browser if you want to -- but Twinkle is the first version I've heard of which utilises the geo-location functionality of the iPhone to let you know when people are nearby.
Like any system, it only really becomes useful if a lot of people use the service. However, assuming every Twitter-loving iPhone user picks up Twinkle, and turns on the "Locate Me" function, you can then see which people are within a certain radius of you.
The rest of the feature set is similar to other desktop Twitter clients -- reminds me a bit of Twhirl but with nice big iPhone buttons for some of the features.
These kinds of applications are quite personal in nature, like email and IM clients, so you'll probably either love it or hate it. It seems to have some nice functions that genuinely take advantage of the iPhone's new features.
It's native, which means that until the SDK is made official, it's not official, if you see what I mean. The other slight problem is that it's not available to publicly download yet. Hopefully that'll change in due course.
