O2 completely runs out of iPhones, CW too

It seems clear that O2's recent iPhone price cut has done the trick of clearing out stock. Visit the O2 Store's iPhone page and you'll be greeted with a splash page that simply reads "8GB and 16GB iPhone: iPhone no longer available"
Carphone Warehouse's web site is slightly less dramatic, but still lists both iPhone models as out of stock.
This suggests that O2 won't be selling any more of the current iPhones, and instead will leave customers hanging on until the UK is blessed with a 3G iPhone.
It is still possible to get an iPhone, but you'll have to go via the Apple Store. There's no guarantee their stocks will last much longer, either.
In reality, there can't be anyone who wants an iPhone and hasn't already picked one up, so non-existent stock shouldn't be a problem.
