Apple fixing security flaw
Apple is reportedly working on a fix for the firmware version 2.0.2 security flaw that we reported on yesterday:
Apple spokeswoman Jennifer Bowcock acknowledged the problem in an e-mail:
"We are aware of this bug and plan to deliver a fix in the next software update," she said. "For now, users can avoid the problem by changing their setting so that double-clicking the Home Button goes to 'Home' or 'iPod.'"
No timescale has been given for fixing the problem.
Russian iPhone
Vimplecom, the second largest mobile phone operator in Russia, has announced that it has signed an iPhone distribution agreement with Apple, expecting the iPhone 3G to be launched later this year.
Rumour: AT&T iPhone tethering plan
Yes, I know rumour shouldn't be in the news section, but there's a notion that AT&T could be about to introduce a tethering plan for the iPhone 3G, allowing it to be used as a modem for laptops.
It does seem unlikely, though it's the mobile operators that would seem to be most against such an idea, rather than Apple. It would probably require a special application (such as a user friendly version of NetShare, which Apple pulled last month) in order to allow customers to easily set the service up.
Given that AT&T already have tethering plans for other phones, at a price, it could happen. Just don't expect to see it on the existing iPhone data tariffs.
