Snow Patrol Interactive Album on iPhone
Internationally renowned band Snow Patrol is working with Apple to create an official interactive album applications for the iPhone and iPod touch, prior to the release of their fifth studio album next month.
The app will offer a range of artwork, pictures, lyrics, and so on. Yes, it could simply be developed as a web application, but there's a certain cool factor about doing it specifically for the iPhone.
"It will be an interactive element; a digital booklet that will take you into the videos and content," Polydor product manager Liz Goodwin told Music Week.
iPhone Gaming with the JoyPod?
With the perhaps unexpected popularity of the iPhone for at least casual gaming, manufacturers are already looking at ways of improving the experience through hardware.
Belkin is reportedly creating the JoyPod, featuring an eight button controller which snaps together and plugs in to the dock connector.
There's some extremely cool possibilities with such hardware, because not only could you still create games which utilise the accelerometer and touch screen, but also which use more traditional controls.
It apparently has Apple's support already. The only issue, really, is whether there'll be enough games to support the purchase of such a unit from all but the most dedicated. Reminds me a little of having to buy a paddle controller simply to play Breakout on my old Atari 8-bit system.
iPhone for China getting closer
I've lost count how many times I've heard that a Chinese deal for the iPhone is imminent, but apparently the deal is now in its "final stages", according to various news agencies including CNN.
"Steve Jobs and I hope the iPhone will enter China as soon as possible," China Mobile's CEO, Wang Jianzhou, told reporters at the ITU Telecom Asia 2008 exhibition in Bangkok. "We are discussing this issue but we do not have an agreement."
More iPhone in Russia
Reports suggest that Russia's third largest mobile network operator, MegaFon, will start selling the iPhone 3G later this year.
That follows recent news that Vimpelcom will also launch the iPhone 3G.
