What this really shows is how the respective Networks throttle back the abilites of the their networks rather than the speed of the actual phones..

for this to have been true you should have each phone on the SAME network!! not possible as each has an exclusive deal with competing networks.

the AT&T 3G network in the US is the WORST (as proved by current court cases) for disabling the speed of smartphones on the 3G network.

Try this in Europe where the 3G networks are more established and more importantly not restricted (throttled down) as much and you will get the opposite effect...

I agree with you, though it's worth noting that some 3G networks in Europe are also being throttled.

The test was never going to be like for like, unfortunately. It does look like the Safari browser might be slightly faster, if only the iPhone could access the data more quickly.
