Apple to lower iPhone production by 40%
According to an analysis firm, Apple could reduce its production of the iPhone by up to forty percent this quarter due to a slowing of consumer spending.
Friedman, Billings Ramsey & Co analyst Craig Berger wrote, "Apple is a good proxy for broader consumer demand given that it has the hottest, sleekest, most desirable products. That the firm's iPhone production plans are being revised lower suggests that the global macroeconomic weakness is impacting even high-end consumers. No market segment will be spared in this global downturn."

iPhone virus developed
According to 38-year-old Piergiorgio Zambrini, it's possible to embed a virus in an Internet video that could be used to shut down and reboot the iPhone.
Apparently the hacker failed to get a job at Apple, though it's not clear whether this fuelled the development of said virus. He has sent the technical details to Apple, though, so hopefully there'll be a patch. It's not clear whether a proof-of-concept video is already available.

Glu looking to social gaming on iPhone
Glu seems to be looking at developing social games for the iPhone, according to a new job listing on its web site.
The VP of social gaming position mentions the iPhone, though this could just be related to marketing on, rather than developing games for, the handset. However, they'll also be responsible for "Oversee[ing] glu's games for emerging platforms" and "[driving] strategic relationships with external OEM, online and technology platform companies (e.g. Apple, Google, Nokia's Ngage, MS Mobile, Facebook, MSN)"

Jailbroken iPhones dead on new Apple notebooks?
There are reports that owners of the latest MacBook family of notebooks can't use a jailbroken iPhone with it, thanks to the latest version of iTunes installed on it.
It's probably a situation that will replicate itself across other Macs and PCs if users upgrade iTunes.
It won't do much to thwart those who continue to try to crack open the iPhone, though.
