US Apple Stores sell contract-free iPhone 3Gs
Adding fuel to the fire of speculation that there'll be new iPhone hardware this summer, Apple Stores in the US have started selling the iPhone 3G at full price without a contract.
AT&T started selling "no commitment" iPhone 3Gs last week, but with a one-per-customer restriction. Apple Stores appear not to be sticking to this, suggesting that they're trying to get old stock out of the way in the next couple of months.
In the UK, and in several European countries, it's been possible to get hold of "pay as you go" versions of the iPhone 3G for some time now, though officially they're still tied to the exclusive mobile network operator.
In any case, US residents can pick up the 8GB iPhone 3G for $599 and the 16GB iPhone 3G for $699.
