Gameloft secures mobile game rights to new Sherlock Holmes film

Gameloft has announced that it has secured the rights to produce a mobile game based on the forthcoming Sherlock Holmes film.

Though the iPhone and iPod Touch aren't specifically mentioned, Gameloft has produced a number of games for the platforms so it wouldn't be a surprise to see the game, due out sometime before the US theatrical release on Christmas Day this year.

"Sherlock Holmes is a household name spanning multiple countries and languages. To have this story updated as a modern action film by such premier talent will make the story of Sherlock Holmes more relevant than ever," said senior vice president of Worldwide Publishing at Gameloft, Gonzague de Vallois.

"We are confident our powerhouse development team will capture the spirit of the film for fans and gamers alike."

Gameloft will develop the Sherlock Holmes storyline into a mobile game and distribute it through the company's wide network of carriers, partners and its online store in over 80 countries.
