Skype for iPhone gets upgrade: now with voicemail and SMS
Skype arrived on the iPhone back in March, after a long wait, and was generally warmly greeted. However, there were still some things that you couldn't do, and not all of them were a result of the networks crippling innovation.
A few months on and the first major update to Skype has made it into the App Store. Now it's possible to listen to your voicemail messages from the mobile version, and also to send SMS text messages to contacts around the world.
There's also much greater international language support, too, with Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Russian, simplified Chinese, Spanish, Swedish and traditional Chinese all available.
Updating should happen automatically when you check for updates, otherwise you can get it from the app store. You do have to be running either version 2.2 or 3.0 of the bona fide iPhone OS though.
